As a one of New Hampshire's most important and popular art museums, the Currier Museum was in an ideal position to use its resources for a broad education initiative for the K-12 audience. By using the resources of the Museum's collection as a foundation for lessons formulated to work within standards-based lesson plans, the Museum could give teachers a valuable way to enrich their students' experience.
Myriad was asked to create the Online Curriculum, beginning with an audience assessment phase to collect feedback from the teachers who would use the Curriculum. The top priorities in the teachers' eyes were intuitive organization and a visually engaging interface. Through the development and testing process we were able to work with the Museum to add such features as "zoomable" images and images that link to the collection for comprehensive information about the work and the artist.
The response from the teachers who have used this site has been overwhelmingly positive. The site has gone well beyond meeting its objectives, and another lesson module is already in planning. |
